Since 1977, the Barossa Wine Show has been a showcase of the region’s winemaking talent, highlighting some of the best wines of the vintage. With hundreds of entries across 25+ categories, judged blind by top winemakers, wine media, and industry professionals, the results shine a spotlight on wines that truly stand out.
For wineries: why enter?
The Barossa Wine Show is an opportunity to have wines assessed by a world-class panel, gain valuable feedback, and be recognised among peers. Winning a Trophy or Medal is a fantastic endorsement, but beyond the awards, entering the show demonstrates a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
For wine lovers: what do the awards mean?
The results offer a great guide to wines that have impressed some of the sharpest palates in the industry. A place to start when looking for standouts from the region. But wine shows don’t tell the whole story. Some wines aren’t entered, and others might not shine in a competition setting, even if they are exceptional in their own right.
Award-winning wines deserve attention, but there’s always more to explore in Barossa. The region’s depth and diversity mean that incredible wines exist beyond the trophy list.
Get closer to the action
While the main judging panel is invite-only, one wine lover each year has the chance to join as a guest associate judge. The position is auctioned at the Wine Show Award Dinner, attracting bidders from around Australia and beyond.
The Barossa Wine Show takes place every September, celebrating the craft, passion, and evolution of Barossa winemaking. A moment to recognise excellence, spark discovery, and deepen appreciation for the wines of the region.
