The Single Vineyard Register has been established to build upon the story of Barossa Grounds, a 12-year study of the region’s terroir. It serves to honour the growers and viticulturists whose dedication and custodianship of the land shape the very essence of Barossa wines.
By sharing insights into their personality and passion, we articulate the nuances that make these sites worthy of a single vineyard bottling. The generational grower story is at the core of Barossa’s deep connection to its terroir, rooted in history, thriving in the present, and shaping the future.
A Barossa single vineyard is defined by a single continual boundary, where the grapes produce wines with distinguishable sensory qualities. These qualities arise from the vineyard’s unique combination of soil, vine, climate, location, and aspect, ensuring that the resulting wine possesses a character worthy of individual bottling, whether from the entire site or a specific parcel.
To qualify, a Barossa single vineyard wine must contain 100% fruit from the vineyard, with a 5% allowance for barrel-aged wines requiring topping up.
