Protect our vines

Barossa’s vines have outlived world wars, droughts, and generations of winemakers. But they wouldn’t survive phylloxera. It only takes one step. Pests and diseases hitch a ride on shoes, clothing, and tyres. Once here, there’s no cure. Phylloxera devastated vineyards across Europe, wiping out centuries of winemaking history. It spread through parts of Australia too – but never South Australia. Today, Barossa is home to some of the oldest producing vines on the planet. Let’s keep it that way.
Please don’t walk, ride, or drive amongst our vines.

Your best Barossa moment? Enjoying a glass, not stepping on history.

Enjoy our wines. Protect our vines.

To ensure the health of our cherished vineyards, you might be asked to participate in biosecurity measures, such as using footbaths, and to engage in guided experiences that adhere to protective protocols. These measures ensure you can enjoy the beauty of our vineyards without putting them at risk.

For vineyard views and other perfect photo opportunities without entering the vine rows, consider these spots:

  • Mengler Hill Lookout: Offers panoramic views of the Barossa Valley.
  • Barossa Sculpture Park: Located near Mengler Hill, featuring unique sculptures set against the backdrop of the valley.
  • Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park: Provides scenic walking trails with diverse flora and fauna.
  • Barossa Reservoir’s Whispering Wall: A remarkable acoustic attraction with picturesque surroundings.

By choosing these locations, you can capture the essence of the Barossa without impacting the vineyards.
