Barossa has always been a region built on collaboration and shared knowledge, and the Barons reflect that spirit. Made up of grape growers, winemakers, and industry leaders, the group works beyond their everyday roles to support and promote the region locally and globally. Through scholarships and funding, they invest in viticulture, education, and future generations, ensuring that skills, knowledge, and craftsmanship continue to evolve.
Each year, the Barons host the Declaration of Vintage, an event that marks the official start of harvest. It is also when Barons of Barossa announce Barossa Winemaker and Viticulturist of the Year. The group also holds an annual induction, recognising individuals who have made a significant contribution to Barossa beyond their profession. Becoming a Baron is an honour, reflecting dedication, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to the region’s future.
One of their most significant contributions is The Barossa Cellar, Australia’s only regional wine museum. This purpose-built cellar holds a collection of rare and aged wines, preserving Barossa’s winemaking history and providing a resource for future generations. Tastings and events can be made by appointment.
The Barons of Barossa are part of the fabric of this region, ensuring that Barossa’s story, its wines, its people, and its community continue to evolve while staying true to its roots.
